Method of Application :
  • Thoroughly mix by weight the hardener (part A), resin (Part B) and filler (Part C) in a ratio of 100 g: 200 g: 700 g for 1 kg and 500 g: 1000 g: 3500 g for 5 kg
  • Add filler (Part C) gradually until homogeneous paste is obtained.
  • Fill the joints with the help of squeegee trowel. Remove the excess grout material from joints. Clean sides of surface after 15 minutes. Allow surface to dry before subjecting to traffic.
Method of use :

STAGE 1 - MIXING:

Pour RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT - Part A and Part B into a clean mixing vessel and mix thoroughly with a drill mixer until solutions are completely blended. Add all of the Part C powder gradually and continue mixing. The mix will look thick at the beginning. Whip it thoroughly with high-speed mixer (>450 rpm) until uniformly blended (Minimum 2 to 4 minutes). This will aerate the grout to a very fluffy mix. Application for maximum pot life, remove grout from vessel and spread on floor or plastic sheeting. Spread the grout with a sharp, firm rubber grout float. Work the grout paste into the joints. Ensure the joint is filled and grout is not sitting on the top. Remove excess grout from the face of the surface with the edge of the grout float or squeezy. Hold the float at 90° angle and pull it diagonally across the joints and applied surface to avoid pulling out the material.

STAGE 2 - INITIAL CLEANING:

Use an appropriate tile grout cleaning additive at this stage. Once the grout has been spread, wait approximately for 30 minutes at 21°C prior to beginning the initial wash. Add 100 ml of appropriate tile grout cleaning additive to 2 liters of clean water and mix until completely dissolved. Do not mix this cleaning additive with the grout. Avoid contact with grout – only clean the surrounding surface. Wipe grout joints and surrounding surface with a white nylon pad in a circular motion. Drag a damp clean sponge diagonally over the scrubbed surface to remove grout residue.

STAGE 3 - FINAL CLEANING:

Wait for at least 90 minutes after the initial wash at 21°C for the final wash using the same procedure as in the initial wash. Prepare another two liters of clean water and add appropriate tile grout cleaning additive and apply. In the final wash avoid contact with the grout – clean the surrounding surface only.

Coverage :

Approximately 75 sq ft per kg for 2 mm tile width and 6mm tile thickness. Coverage may vary depending upon the surface conditions and depth of joints.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS :

1. How much of RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT would I need for my project?
Please note that grout coverage is approximate and can vary based on job site conditions, actual grout joint width and depth, type of tile or stone being grouted, and installation method.

2. How long do I need to allow RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT to cure before the surface usage?
It should be available for use in 48 - 72 hours when cured at 70°F (21°C). However, RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT does not reach full stain resistance for 7 days at 70°F (21°C) so please use caution when using heavily dyed cleansing products (e.g.: shampoo, soap, tile/grout cleaners, etc...) during these seven days.

3. Can I use RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT to grout marble?
Some polished or soft marble/stone can be scratched by an epoxy grout. Always conduct a test area to verify suitability and acceptability of materials and methods as well as the results, prior to proceeding with the actual grout job. "Picture-framing" (a darkening or discoloration of the stone edges) may occur with some absorptive stone e.g. White marble, some other statuary marbles, soft porous stone or agglomerate stone. Conducting a test area, preferably under actual in place conditions and lighting, will help to determine if "picture framing" will take place.

4. How do I remove cured epoxy grout film from the face of tiles?
Use appropriate epoxy grout cleaning additive to the face of the tile in the affected area(s). Use the sponge to scrub the surface with some pressure to "abrade" the haze off of the tile. Conduct a test area in an inconspicuous area to verify suitability of this method for your tile or stone and to determine results. If the haze persists, repeat the above technique.

5. What are the minimum and maximum width grout joints for RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT?
RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT can be installed into joints from 1/16" (1.5mm) to 1/2" (12.7mm) wide. However, since these grouts do contain sand, narrow joints will appear with a coarse texture when compared to un-sanded grouts.

6. Do RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT contain sand?
Yes, RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT contain sand. Since these grouts utilize non-pigmented technology, the grout color is physically bonded to the sand and cannot be washed out or diluted during mixing.

7. Can I use RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT and adhesive in exterior applications?
Yes, for all horizontal work and all works in swimming pools. However, epoxy grout and adhesives are typically not recommended for vertical exterior work outside of swimming pools. Please note that exposure to UV light can change the color of any epoxy grout, and possibly cause them to yellow or darken.

8. I need only a small amount of the epoxy grout. I do not want to mix the entire unit. What can I do?
For best results, we suggest that you mix the entire unit. However, if you need to mix up a small amount, use the same proportion of each component (e.g. 1/2 of the Part A, 1/2 of the part B and half of the RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT Part C by volume.

9. How much time do I have to work with RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT epoxy grouts once mixed?
For RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT approximately 80 minutes working time at 70°F (21°C). However, higher, or lower temperatures will influence working time, time to traffic and pot life of the epoxy grouts.

10. I must grout a wall and cove base with epoxy. What should I use?
RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT is an ideal product for grouting vertical surfaces. It provides superior performance and will not sag in joints up to 1/2" (12mm) wide.

11. Do I have to use all the RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT Part C Powder when mixing epoxy grouts?
One of the key advantages of RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT is that the consistency is adjustable during mixing. You must add at least 3/4 of the RAKSIN EPOXY TILE GROUT Part C powder to the fully blended Part A and Part B liquids. Joint width and depth, temperature and other job site conditions will dictate exactly how much powder is required for the application, at that time. However, bear in mind that reducing the amount of powder will influence coverage. For maximum coverage, please use all the RAKSIN Part C Filler Powder.

12. I am grouting in temperatures colder than 60°F (16°C), what should I do?
For best results, the surface temperature of the area being grouted should be between 16°C and 32°C. For temperatures below 16°C, workability becomes more and more difficult and cure time is extended. For temperatures above 32°C, the epoxy, pot life and working time are greatly reduced and the product can flash set during installation.
